Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic: Oxfam Supply Centre Operations Update
The Oxfam Supply Centre is open.
The UK remains in 'lockdown' to slow down the spread of Coronavirus. In response to this, the Oxfam Supply Centre has implemented remote working for all of its desk-based staff while two of the team keep the warehouse operational. We continue to be able handle quote requests and orders without seeing significant disruption to our services, however, we are finding that it does take longer than usual to respond to incoming messages.
The Oxfam Supply Centre is well stocked with equipment and our suppliers are working very hard to maintain continuous supplies. Please note the following points:
- Equipment: Our suppliers are working in similar conditions, meaning that quotes may take longer and lead times are extended. Furthermore, for any orders of specialised equipment which is not held in stock or is not in our catalogue, we will be requesting advance payment and not extending credit. This is because in the event of order cancellation due to transport constraints we will not be able to return the equipment to stock.
- Transport: As the situation with the global aviation industry is in a state of flux we are experiencing significant challenges in securing air cargo space to many destinations. We are working through these challenges with our freight partners and will inform our customers of any issues on a case by case basis. However, because of the highly uncertain nature of the air cargo market, we will only be accepting orders on the basis that any additional charges caused by cancellation of flights, at either origin or transit point, storage at airline(s) and repatriation costs (transport / storage) will be fully accepted by the customer.
The Oxfam Supply Centre’s sole purpose is to supply high quality equipment to humanitarian programmes across the whole world and the whole charitable sector, and thus bring relief to the people who need it most. Please be assured that we are resolute in our determination to continue servicing our customers and will do whatever it takes to fulfil our mission.
