Recently we have been asked to source and supply simple bacteria presence/absence testing kits for faecal bacteria. The test can detect H2S producing bacteria such as e-coli and salmonella. This type of simple test has been used for decades but it has been difficult to get good quality tests from a reliable supplier.
Fortunately at the AidEx 2020 event we met with staff from LETZTEST. This is a German company that specialise in providing water testing equipment, teaching materials, and staff training. Their focus is to offer goods and service to the Aid Sector, to help to build water monitoring capacity where there is none. They advocate for a stepped approach, beginning with the simplest tests and learning how to collect and use the results, then progressing to introduce other tests, as teams become more capable and confident.
We have introduced the LETZTEST presence/absence kit and test tubes into the catalogue – and we especially like the non-electric incubator for using with the test tubes.
