Description

The chlorine generator uses salt, water, and electricity to produce a sodium hypochlorite solution that can be used in water treatment and for disinfection purposes. The kits available are of different capacities, producing larger volumes of usable chlorine solution in each production cycle.

Maxi-WATA

  • Power requirement 888W, 24V DC, nominal current 37A
  • Production time: 2 hrs
  • Production volume: 60 litre sodium hypochlorite solution at 5 g/l or 0.5%
  • Salt required 1500 g
  • Device dimensions: 20x 7 x 30 cm

The chlorine solution is not stabilised so will loose concentration quickly, depending on the storage conditions. It is advantageous to select the correct unit in order to produce chlorine for use on a daily basis.

Kits require a 12 or 24V DC power supply, depending on the capacity. They are all supplied with an adaptor/inverter so that they can be powered from the AC supply from a generator or mains electricity. The units can also be powered using solar panels and batteries.

User notes

  • Chlorine solution concentration can be tested by the DPD tablet method, using a photometer or visual comparator (Pooltester).
  • Water for hand washing and sanitising is required at 0.05% (500 mg/l or ppm) - MSF guidelines for Ebola response
  • For virus control, disinfecting solution is required at 0.5% (5000 mg/l or ppm) - MSF guidelines for Ebola response
